UK adults planned to spend £1.16 billion on Halloween in 2026, according to a Censuswide survey of 2,001 adults for Finder. Our own Halloween statistics show the selling side: at MorphCostumes we shipped 1.3 million costumes in the 61 days from 1 September to 31 October 2026, which is one costume every four seconds, day and night.
Our figures come first and the method sits at the end. For the costumes themselves, start with our guide to the best Halloween costumes or browse every look in our Halloween costumes range.
What are our Halloween 2026 numbers?
Our Halloween 2026 season comes down to six numbers; the first five cover the 61 days from 1 September to 31 October 2026, and the sixth covers six years:
- 1.3 million costumes shipped: one every four seconds, on average.
- More than 60,000 costumes sold on the busiest day, Monday 26 October.
- More than four in five costumes sold in October, and around a fifth in the final week.
- Sold in 13 countries across North America and Europe, with every market in growth.
- About 245 miles (395 km) of packs, laid end to end.
- More than 25% compound annual revenue growth over the last six years.

We started in Edinburgh in 2009 with a single product, the Morphsuit, a head-to-toe stretch costume; our guide to the Morphsuit tells that part of the story. Today we design and sell costumes and fancy dress accessories for adults and kids, through our own websites in the UK and US and other channels.
How much does the UK spend on Halloween?
UK adults planned to spend £1.16 billion on Halloween in 2026, according to Finder's Halloween statistics. The figure comes from a Censuswide survey of 2,001 UK adults carried out from 14 to 16 October 2026, and it measures planned spending.
Every one of our markets grew this year, the UK included. The survey ran in mid-October, the month that carried more than four in five of our season's costumes.
When did people buy their Halloween costumes?
Most of our customers bought their Halloween costumes in October: more than four in five of our season's costumes sold that month, and around a fifth sold in the final week alone. Here is how the 61 days ran:
| When | What happened |
|---|---|
| 1 September | Our 61-day count begins |
| 1 to 31 October | More than four in five of the season's costumes sell |
| Monday 26 October | The busiest day: more than 60,000 costumes, one every 1.4 seconds |
| The final week | The final week: around a fifth of the season |
| 31 October | Halloween night, and the end of our 61-day count |
The busiest day landed on a Monday, five days before Halloween night. Fraser Smeaton, our co-founder and CEO, puts the late rush down to faster, more reliable delivery. If you are a final-week shopper next year, our guide to last-minute Halloween costumes is written for you.
How far would the season's costumes stretch?
Laid end to end in their packs, the season's orders would stretch about 245 miles (395 km), roughly four miles for every day of the season. That is further than London to Paris, or Edinburgh to Dublin, as the crow flies.
| Measure | Distance |
|---|---|
| Our season's packs, end to end | About 245 miles (395 km) |
| Edinburgh to Dublin, as the crow flies | About 218 miles (350 km) |
| London to Paris, as the crow flies | About 213 miles (343 km) |
The distance assumes an average pack length of about 30 cm; road routes run longer than these straight lines.
What was our standout costume of Halloween 2026?
Fraser Smeaton, our co-founder and CEO, names our inflatable alien as the standout costume of our season. Here is Fraser on Halloween 2026:
"Halloween keeps growing as an international phenomenon, and every one of our markets was up this year," said Fraser Smeaton, co-founder and CEO of MorphCostumes. "Our inflatable alien was the standout costume of the season. Faster, more reliable delivery means people buy later every year, so the season now runs right up to the night itself. One costume every four seconds is a lot of parties, trick-or-treat runs and office fancy dress days, and every one went to someone who wanted a night to remember."

Alien Costume Inflatable Pick Me Up: our inflatable alien
The Alien Costume Inflatable Pick Me Up is a carried-away illusion: a wide-eyed green alien grips the wearer from above while a pair of fake legs dangles below. Switch on the built-in fan and the whole thing is up within seconds. One size covers most adults from 5'4" to 6'4" (163 to 193 cm). Power comes from 4 x AA batteries, bought separately, which keep it inflated for up to 4 hours, and a pocket on the outside holds your phone. Add our Steampunk Ray Gun Prop for the rescue attempt. Our guide to alien costumes for adults and kids inflatable alien costumes cover the rest of the invasion.
Which other costumes from our 2026 range should you know?
Five more costumes from our range are worth knowing: a kids pick-me-up inflatable, two kids horror looks and two women's character costumes. Two are bestsellers and one is new for 2026. Every costume goes through over 30 measurement checks.
Kids Pick Me Up Grim Reaper Inflatable Costume: carried off at the door
Children get the same carried-away joke with the Kids Pick Me Up Grim Reaper Inflatable Costume: a towering, skull-faced reaper in a black robe appears to lift your child off the doorstep. It is one size for most children from 3'11" to 5'3" (120 to 155 cm), worn over their own clothes, with a fan on 4 x AA batteries, not included, and elasticated seals to keep the air in. More reapers, robes and scythes are in our guide to grim reaper costumes for kids.

Boys Evil Pumpkin Monster Costume: the scariest pumpkin on the street
The Boys Evil Pumpkin Monster Costume is one of our bestsellers, and the pack is complete: a full-length black robe with jagged edges, a pointy hood, a creepy pumpkin mask, matching gloves and a rope waist tie. It is 100% polyester and comes in five sizes, Toddler (3-4 years) to XL (12-14 years). On a cold night, a thin long-sleeved top and leggings go underneath without changing the look. For the wider kids range, see our kids Halloween costumes.
Boys Zalgo Morphsuit: the original idea, gone dark
Zalgo is an internet horror figure, and the Boys Zalgo Morphsuit is our own take on it and another of our bestsellers: a one-piece suit printed with grey-white tendrils on black, red-rimmed eyes and an attached see-through hood. It has a back zip and a quick-release hood opening, it is 91% polyester and 9% elastane for four-way stretch, and it comes in Small to X-Large, sized by your child's height. For the story behind another of our creepypasta suits, read what the Rake costume is.

Women's Black Cat Bodysuit Costume: the whole look in one pack
Everything for a black cat comes in one pack with the Women's Black Cat Bodysuit Costume: a leather-look stretch catsuit, an adjustable belt with a working buckle, 3/4 length pointed gloves and a cat-eye mask on an elastic strap. Sizes run from small to X-large, and the bodycon cut sits close, so measure against the size guide first. More ideas for her are in our guide to Halloween costumes for women.
Women's Creepy Clown Dress Costume: new for 2026
New to our range this year, the Women's Creepy Clown Dress Costume is a grey dress with red pom-poms down the front, plus arm cuffs, leg cuffs and a ruffled neckpiece. It is 100% polyester with stretch fabric and an elasticated waist, in sizes S to XXL. Our Rusted Gold Giant Fake Scissors Prop gives the look its menace.

Where do these figures come from?
Our season figures come from our own sales data for 1 September to 31 October 2026. Three points of method:
- Daily and monthly figures (the busiest day, the October share and the final-week share) come from our main sales channels, which carry most of our volume.
- The four-second figure divides the 61-day season, about 5.27 million seconds, by the costumes shipped.
- The distance assumes an average pack length of about 30 cm, and the city comparisons are straight-line distances.
The UK spending figure is Finder's, from its Censuswide survey of 2,001 UK adults. Journalists can quote this page; Fraser Smeaton is available for interview on the 2026 Halloween season and what shoppers bought. For who we are, see our page on whether MorphCostumes is legit.
