Measure once, check the chart, and order the right size.

The size chart for each costume is on its product page, under the red Size Guide button above the size dropdown. That chart is the one to follow.

This guide explains how to measure, gives the full charts for Morphsuits, inflatables, and piggybacks, and shows how sizing works across our men's, women's, kids', and one-size fancy dress costumes. Size by your measurements, not your usual clothing size.

How to find your size in three steps

  1. Measure yourselfTake your height and weight for a Morphsuit, and your chest, waist, and hips for other costumes.

  3. Match your measurementsFor Morphsuits and kids' costumes, if you are on the line between two sizes, choose the larger one. Women's costumes work differently, covered below.

Before you order

How to measure

Use a soft tape measure, wear thin clothing or underwear, and ask someone to help if you can. Keep the tape snug but not tight.

For children, measure height in the same way, then chest and waist. Kids Morphsuits go by height alone.

Height
Stand barefoot with your back against a wall. Rest a flat object, such as a book, on top of your head, mark the wall, and measure from the floor to the mark.
Weight
Weigh yourself on bathroom scales, in kilograms or stone. Our adult Morphsuit chart uses height and weight together.
Chest
Measure around the fullest part of your chest.
Waist
Measure around your natural waistline.
Hips
Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part.

Morphsuits are sized by height and weight, not by your usual clothing size. Find the size where both your height and your weight fit. If they point to different sizes, or you are on the line between two sizes, choose the larger one.

A Morphsuit is made from 125GSM+ spandex with a four-way stretch, so it is meant to fit close to the body from head to toe. You can wear thin layers underneath for a cold outdoor event without spoiling the fit.

Worked examples

  • 170 cm (5'7") and 68 kg (10 st 10 lb): only M covers 170 cm, and 68 kg is under the M limit of 73 kg. Choose M.
  • 175 cm (5'9") and 75 kg (11 st 11 lb): 175 cm fits M, L, or XL, but 75 kg is over the M limit. Choose L.
  • 183 cm (6'0") and 86 kg (13 st 8 lb): 183 cm fits L, XL, or XXL, but 86 kg is over the L limit of 82 kg. Choose XL.
  • 178 cm (5'10") and 98 kg (15 st 6 lb): 178 cm fits every size, but 98 kg is over the XL limit of 95 kg. Choose XXL.

The one rule

Size by your measurements, not your usual clothing size. On the line between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Women's costumes are sized by chest, waist, and hips. Not every costume comes in every size. If you are on the border between two sizes, some of our women's charts advise the smaller size for a tight fit or the larger size for a looser fit.

Men's costumes and unisex adult costumes, such as our onesies, are sized by chest and waist, and some charts add height. On some of our charts, L is labelled Standard and XL is labelled Plus.

On most of our men's charts, L fits a chest of up to 112 cm (44 in), and XL fits a chest of up to 122 cm (48 in). Some costumes go up to 3XL. A few charts note that the costume fits people up to 6'3" (about 190 cm) tall, so check the chart if you are taller.

Check your child's height, chest, and waist against the chart. If your child is on the line between two sizes, or will wear a coat underneath, go up one size. Kids Morphsuits start a year younger, at size S for ages 3 to 6, so use the Kids Morphsuit chart for those.

Toddler and baby costumes run from Baby (6 to 12 months) through toddler sizes for ages 1 to 2 and 3 to 4. The 3 to 4 size is labelled T2, 3T–4T, or Toddler, depending on the costume. Check the height, chest, and waist on the product page, because these ranges vary between designs.

A one-size costume still has limits, and they differ between costumes. Its chart on the product page lists the largest chest, waist, or dress size it fits, so check those before you order.

The limits on our adult one-size charts, from the standard fit to the largest:

Women's one-size costumes fit a chest of up to 104 cm (41 in), a waist of up to 88 cm (35 in), and hips of up to 111 cm (44 in), which is up to a UK dress size 18 or 20, depending on the costume.

Some licensed costumes use the manufacturer's own size chart, such as Disguise. These charts can also list hips, inseam, and weight, and their kids' sizes can follow different age bands, for example 7 to 8 years for M. The chart on the product page is the one to follow.

If it does not fit

Returns and exchanges

Returns must be posted within 30 days of your original order date, with the costume new, unused, and in its original packaging. We cannot refund a costume that has been worn, washed, or soiled. We do not run direct exchanges, so return the original for a refund and place a new order for the size you need.

If you are returning a costume because of its size, check the size label on the costume itself, not the outer packaging, because some manufacturers use the same packaging for every size. You pay the return postage, and we do not refund the original delivery cost unless the item is damaged or faulty, or we made an error. Some items, such as shoe covers, wigs, and cosmetics, can only be returned unopened in their original packaging. Costumes bought in December as Christmas presents can be returned until 30 January. Size guide FAQs

Are Morphsuits true to size?

Yes, Morphsuits are true to our size chart, which is based on height and weight rather than your usual clothing size. Find the size where both your height and weight fit. If they point to different sizes, or you are on the line between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Do Morphsuits run small?

Morphsuits are designed to fit close to the body, so a snug feel is normal. If you choose by your T-shirt or trouser size, it may not fit, because the chart works by height and weight. Match both to the adult chart above.

What if my height and weight are in different sizes?

Choose the larger of the two sizes. For example, at 175 cm (5'9") and 75 kg (11 st 11 lb) your height fits M, but your weight is over the M limit of 73 kg, so choose L.

Do you have plus sizes?

Yes. Adult Morphsuits go up to XXL, for up to 196 cm (6'5") and under 114 kg (18 stone). Our women's costume charts go up to 3XL, which is a UK dress size 28 to 30, and some men's costumes go up to 3XL. Some one-size costumes fit a chest of up to 142 cm (56 in). Not every costume comes in every size, so check the size list on the product page.

How do I choose a size for my child?

Measure your child's height and match it to the chart on the product page. Use age only as a rough guide. If your child is on the line between two sizes, choose the larger one.

What size inflatable costume do I need?

Most of our inflatables are one size, fitted by height. Adult inflatables fit from 165 to 193 cm (5'4" to 6'4"), and kids' inflatables fit children from 120 to 155 cm (3'11" to 5'1"), roughly ages 6 to 12. Check the chart on the product page for the design you want.

Can I wear clothes under a Morphsuit?

Yes. You can wear thin layers under a Morphsuit without spoiling the fit.
