Why there is no boxed Mario costume here, ours included

Nintendo licenses Mario merchandise character by character, and the standalone red-and-blue bodysuit is not one of the costumes currently licensed into the UK fancy dress market, ours included. That is why "mario and luigi costumes" returns so little worth clicking: retailers list the Luigi half on its own, and nobody has the matching pair to build a page around. We checked our own Nintendo costumes range before writing this, so what follows is what ships, not what the search implies should exist.

Demand for the theme is not the problem. Nintendo's own reported figures put Mario Kart World at 15.39 million units sold worldwide as of 30 June 2026, the best-selling Switch 2 game by a wide margin, and a second Mario film is already dated for cinemas. A child who plays the game knows the whole cast, Luigi and Peach included. A green jumpsuit and a crown reads as a Nintendo group, not as the compromise you settled for.

Two Luigi costumes, and how they actually differ

Both Luigi costumes hold the same three pieces: jumpsuit, hat, and moustache. Size is what separates them, and stock is what complicates it right now. The Kids Classic Nintendo Super Mario Bros Luigi Costume is the wider run, Small (4 to 6 years), Medium (7 to 8), and Large (10 to 12), CE safety test approved, but it is showing out of stock at the time of writing. The Kids Super Mario Bros Luigi Costume holds the same three pieces and is in stock, though Small (4 to 6 years) is the only size on its selector today. A 4 to 6 year old can buy a Luigi costume from us right now; a 7 to 12 year old cannot, until the wider run is back.

The Luigi costumes are the other side of that window, and it is not a flattering one. Neither Luigi costume recorded a completed sale, while the Mario hat and moustache accessory sold once. That is a demand signal, not a quality one. Luigi is the supporting character, and he sells like one. If your child wants Luigi specifically, buy it: the jumpsuit goes through the same 30+ measurement checks as everything else we make, and it is CE safety test approved. Rounding out the group: the Zelda sword accessory

Sizing and care across the range

A licensed costume is held to the same bar here as anything we design ourselves: 30+ measurements, and the 500,000+ quality checks this business logs annually. A licence changes who owns the character, not how the garment is made.

One stock gap matters more than any size gap right now. The Classic Luigi, the only SKU sized above 6 years, is showing out of stock at the time of writing, so a 7 to 12 year old currently has no Luigi costume to buy from us. If it returns, note the age bands run 4 to 6, then 7 to 8, then 10 to 12, so a nine-year-old falls between Medium and Large; measure against the chart and take the Large if they are anywhere near the top of the Medium. Spare fabric in a jumpsuit is a nuisance; a tight one comes off before the party finishes.

Washing is the short bit. Every piece on this page is hand wash only, and none of them are machine washable or tumble dryable, whatever a sticky party has left behind. Air dry flat or hanging, and peel the self-adhesive moustache off before the hat it came with goes near water.
