A girls vampire costume from us comes as a vampiress dress with a stand-up collar and a choker, while our Dracula look comes as a cape set. Our Kids Vampiress Costume in purple packs a velour dress and a lace choker; our Boys Vampire Dracula Fangs Costume packs a waistcoat with an attached shirt, a lined cape, a cane, a medallion, and fangs. Both come in five sizes, from age 3 to age 14.

Vampiress dress or Dracula cape set: which suits your child?
The vampiress dress is the one-piece choice and the Dracula cape set the layered one; both sit in our kids' Halloween costumes range. A dress pulls on in one go and finishes with a choker. A cape set gives your child more pieces to play with and needs trousers from home. Our wider best kids' Halloween costumes guide covers the rest of the range.

Between 22 April and 18 October 2026, M (7 to 9 years) was the size picked most often in orders for our five kids' vampire and vampiress costumes on our UK website, in about a third of those orders. On our site, vampire fancy dress leans towards school-age children.
The two kids' vampire costumes, side by side
Pack lists and sizes come from each product page, and we flag anything in a photo that the pack does not hold.

Kids Vampiress Costume Purple: one dress and a choker
The Kids Vampiress Costume in purple is a 100% polyester velour dress with spiderweb mesh panels, a purple stand-up collar, and a lace choker with a jewel motif in the pack. The fabric stretches and the dress pulls on, so a long-sleeved top or leggings fit underneath on a cold doorstep. It comes in five sizes, 3-4 years and then S (4-6 yrs) up to XL (12-14 yrs). The pale make-up and the fake-blood drip at the model's lip are make-up, not part of the pack.
Wash the dress and the choker apart, in cool water by hand, then reshape the dress and dry it flat away from the radiator.
Boys Vampire Dracula Fangs Costume: the count, fangs included
The Boys Vampire Dracula Fangs Costume packs five pieces: a waistcoat with an attached shirt, a fully lined cape, a cane that screws together from three pieces, a medallion, and fangs. It is 100% polyester with gold trim, in five sizes from T2 (3-4 years) up to XL (12-14 years). The black trousers, the trainers, and the model's make-up, fake-blood drip included, do not come with it, so dig out a pair of dark trousers at home.
Unscrew the cane before washing, then hand wash the waistcoat and cape and hang or lay them flat to dry.

The same count look comes without fangs in our Boys Dracula Vampire Costume, which packs the waistcoat, cape, cane, and medallion. For a scruffier vampire, the Boys Evil Count Vampire Costume packs a printed waistcoat, striped trousers, a cape, and a mask.
Which girls' vampire costume should you choose?
Pick a girls' vampire costume by colour and collar, because all three of our vampiress dresses include a choker and none includes make-up:
- Purple: the Kids Vampiress Costume above, black and purple velour with spiderweb mesh sleeves, from 3-4 years to XL (12-14 yrs).
- Red and black: our Girls Vampiress Costume has velour panels, spiderweb mesh sleeves, a stand-up collar, and a lace choker with a jewel, from T2 (3-4 years) to XL (12-14 years).
- Red and black, printed: the Girls Dark Red Vampiress Costume is a dress with an attached high collar, a vampire print, and gothic lace detailing, with a statement choker, from S (4-6 years) to XL (12-14 years).
A girl who wants the cape and the cane can wear the Dracula set just as well; the "boys" in the name is a label, not a rule.
How scary is a vampire costume for a young child?
A vampire costume gets its scare from the collar, the cape, and the fangs rather than from gore, so the scare level is mostly yours to set. Neither pack carries fake blood; the drips in the product photos are make-up. Children react differently, and the Child Mind Institute's Halloween guidance quotes psychologist Kathryn Keough: "We want to follow a child's lead." The same article points out that young children can struggle to separate imaginary monsters from real ones.
- For a 3 or 4 year old, leave the fangs out and keep the face clean; the collar and the colour carry the costume on their own.
- Let a younger sibling see the fangs go in at home, so the first sight of them is not on the doorstep.
What is not in the pack, and what is worth adding?
Neither featured pack includes make-up or shoes, and the Dracula set leaves out trousers. Three additions do the most work:
- Dark trousers or leggings: the Dracula set needs them, and leggings under the vampiress dress add warmth.
- Fangs: only the Dracula Fangs Costume has them in the pack. Add a pair to either dress.
- Face paint: a pale base and a drop of red at the lip. Test it first, as below.
Read the make-up label before you buy. North East Lincolnshire Council's Trading Standards team tells Halloween shoppers to check labelling for warnings, instructions, and age suitability before buying. The cosmetics industry body CTPA notes that a delayed allergic reaction usually shows 24 to 72 hours after contact. That is why we try a small patch of face paint on a child's arm a few days before Halloween night.

Which size should you order?
Both featured costumes are sized by age (the dress by age and height), so start from your child's age band and check our size guide if they are tall for it. The labels run from 3-4 years (T2 on the Dracula set) through S for ages 4 to 6, M for 7 to 9, and L for 10 to 12, up to XL for 12 to 14.
The vampiress dress stretches and pulls on over a long-sleeved top. The Dracula waistcoat and shirt come as one piece, so there is no separate shirt to size. Every costume goes through over 30 measurement checks. All of our kids' products are safety tested by accredited labs.
What should you check before Halloween night?
Keep capes and long sleeves away from candles, which matters most with a vampire costume because the cape swings and the mesh sleeves flare. The London Fire Brigade points out that children's costumes are classed as toys and must meet flammability rules, and it suggests flameless LED candles or glowsticks in place of real ones. Not every costume sold meets those rules: when the Office for Product Safety and Standards tested 128 costumes for under-sevens, a targeted sample bought on online marketplaces in 2024, 28 failed the flammability test.
Then there is the cane. The American Academy of Pediatrics' Halloween advice for children's costumes is to avoid sharp or long canes and similar accessories. Our cane screws together from three pieces, so it can stay in the cupboard for a busy street and come out for the photos and the school disco.

Yes. The Dracula set is a waistcoat with an attached shirt and a cape, so any child can wear it, and the size range runs from T2 (3-4 years) to XL (12-14 years). Add dark trousers or leggings from home.
Hand wash it in cool water and air dry it. Wash the choker apart from the dress, and unscrew the Dracula cane before washing or storing the set.
