Which Disney Princess Are You?

Is Cinderella Still One Of Your Favourites?

I’m sure we’ve all grown up with the sweet and beautiful story of Cinderella. So I’m sure it’s no surprise that when the 2015 live action movie came out, children, teens and adults went out to see if it still has the magic from when the 1950 Disney animated version was released. We at Morph Costumes feel that it does, even with the changes that were made:

We see more of the prince

Unlike the first movie, Cinderella meets her handsome prince, played by Richard Madden from Game of Thrones (no jealousy here…), before the ball in the woods. Cinderella manages to stop the prince from hunting the deer by telling him “just because [hunting] is something that’s done doesn’t mean that it should be done”. The prince becomes attracted to her and we see chemistry form between the two, which we don’t really get to see in the original.

Cinderella isn’t that typical helpless princess you remember

Back in the 1950s version, Cinderella was portrayed as quite vulnerable. However in the new film she is shown to be a beautiful, strong woman with morals just as strong. Despite what her stepfamily threw at her, she stuck to her dying mothers words: to have courage and be kind (oh Disney). It was these qualities that the gorgeous prince found attractive about her (even though she did sort of end up ruining the hunt by ranting to him on animal rights).

Grab the tissues- you’ll need them when watching this movie

In the first movie, we didn’t hear much about Cinderella’s parents. In the new version, however, we get beautiful scenes of her childhood and incredibly emotional scenes with the death of her parents (seriously, those tissues are needed here). When we see Cinderella all grown up, we see that she honours her mother by sticking by the traits she considered the most important: courage and kindness. We see this again in the scene where the neighbouring farmer delivers the devastating news of Cinderella’s father’s death. At this point it would seem perfectly normal for Cinderella to break down in tears. But despite the news, she still managed to thank the farmer and acknowledge how hard it must have been for him to do this. Even though she’s going through the toughest possible time in her life, she still manages to understand the emotions of others (ok seriously, tissues!)
